Water Engineer

The opportunity:

This is a unique opportunity for an intermediate to senior level engineer. Working out of our Auckland office, Awa is keen to hear expressions of interest to work alongside our engineering lead and growing Auckland presence. The role opportunity is to help develop our service offering in the fields of flood risk and/or water infrastructure design. Having already established ourselves as one of New Zealand’s leading suppliers of hydraulic modelling and related geospatial services, we enjoy a strong client base and pipeline of work.

This will be a technical role with design and client management responsibilities that places the candidate in a strong position for leadership as the team evolves.

About you:

You will have consultancy experience and be seeking the opportunity to take on more responsibility to further develop your career.  You will have a minimum undergraduate degree in Engineering and be able to demonstrate:

  • 5+ years’ experience in water engineering
  • a background in flood risk assessment and/or the design of water infrastructure (gravity and pressure pipelines, pump stations etc)
  • ability to support senior staff in the delivery of projects to meet client expectations and relevant industry standards / statutory requirements
  • an understanding of the engineering design processes and practices relating to water infrastructure design and delivery
  • skills in engineering design, analysis and reporting
  • experience using engineering design tools such as Civil3D and/or 12D as a core daily activity
  • familiarity working with relevant conditions of contracts (CCCS, NZS3910) as a bonus skillset
  • excellent communication skills
  • a proactive approach to workload planning with the ability to meet deadlines

  • Working with project teams to prioritise work
  • Participate and contribute to company scaling and business development activities with Auckland and Wellington staff
