Catchment Dynamics Specialist (Junior, Intermediate, or Senior)

The opportunity:

Join a team redefining how we understand Aotearoa’s water systems in a digital world. Apply your science, engineering or data expertise to deliver smarter, more resilient stormwater and catchment solutions across New Zealand.

You will be a highly capable scientist, engineer or data expert as part of our Digital Environments group. You’ll collaborate with experienced engineers, scientists and software specialists to build and apply digital catchment models for flood risk, stormwater planning and water quality.

Whether your strengths lie in client delivery or technical depth, you’ll have scope to shape the role around your expertise while contributing to a wide range of projects across local authorities, land development and major infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

As part of a skilled and supportive team, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Developing high-quality stormwater, water quality and flood models that deliver real value for our clients.
  • Supporting the delivery of existing contracts and contribute to new work opportunities.

About you:

Are you curious about how land, water and people interact, and how data and numerical modelling can reveal how they work?

You might be an engineer, environmental scientist, hydrologist or data analyst, but above all, you’re someone who wants to use technology to make a difference.

You thrive on analysing complex catchment systems, stormwater, and infrastructure networks to create better outcomes for communities. Are you motivated by turning data into decisions that protect people and the environment? If this sounds like you, we’d love to talk.

What we’re looking for:

  • Relevant experience in hydrology, hydraulics, catchment science and/or engineering (experience will determine if you are brought in at a Junior, Intermediate, or Senior level).
  • Degree in engineering, environmental science, earth science, hydrology, or data science.
  • Proficiency with tools such as ICM, TUFLOW, and MIKE by DHI, with flexibility to adapt to different platforms.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Interest in spatial and environmental data applications (GIS, Python a bonus).
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills across disciplines and locations.

Above all, you need to be passionate about water and bring curiosity and strengths in spatial, planning, environmental, or infrastructure contexts.
